EDUCATION

She received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Berklee College of Music and has been teaching and performing in the Boston area for 25 years.

TEACHER

Currently she is teaching private lessons at the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Solomon Schechter School in Newton, and Music Maker Studios in Brighton.

PERFORMER

As a pianist, Gretchen has performed in both jazz combos and classical venues, and she collaborates with her sister Trudy on a vocal duo ---StoneSistersJazz--- which incorporates smooth vocal harmonies and improvisation.

For several years she was a member of the jazz band --- DetourJazzQuintet--for which she composed and arranged. And is a member of Usually Seven--a jazz ensemble based at Music Maker Studios.

MENTORS

Gretchen began her piano study with G Lloyd Merrill, a graduate of Julliard School of Music. At Berklee, she studied classical with two distinguished teachers, Edward Bedner and Larry Robertson, and jazz with the incomparable Dean Earl. After graduating from Berklee, Gretchen continued her jazz study with the renowned Charlie Banacos...and later with the talented composer and pianist, Consuelo Candelaria.
